A beautiful little 2006 Focus ZX3, and guess what? IT’S A MANUAL! After suffering through my autotragic truck, I finally get to learn to drive stick.

Kinja'd!!!

The car is pretty great too, its got absolutely no rust and is nearly unmolested (the only things not stock are the rims and the radio). Now begins my newest automotive adventure, wish me luck!

Question: 2.0L or the 2.3L?

I hope you get many good miles out of it :)

Question: do you plan on modding it?

Yeah I’m used to that, it doesn’t bother me any

I haven’t decided yet... probably a little, I won’t go too overboard though, I don’t have the money to (though I’m surprised at how affordable performance upgrades are for this car). I am going to do something visually soon though, I’m thinking a nice black stripe or something to break up all the silver. And I do hope to get many good (and fun) miles out of it, Thank you!

Hope you don’t have the 2.0L CVH in here...

No, CVH was phased out in 2004

My roommate has one that he autocrosses. It’s getting suspension upgrades this summer. Interesting part about this car is that the suspension is half and half between generations. The rear is the same as the first-gen but the front is different enough that first-gen parts can’t be easily swapped over without some custom adaptations. Actually, the PZEV 2.3L engine isn’t a shabby motor, autocrossers prefer to start with it since it makes more power and torque out of the box.

Ive thought about possibly doing autocross with it, but that might be a ways down the road

A solid choice. Best of luck.

my Mom had an 03 2.3l manual wagon and loved it. it was supposed to become my first car eventually, but instead it was traded for an awful 4 cylinder 4wd auto 05 Escape :(.

Intriguing... So, the American 2006 Focus looks like a Mark I with the front end of a similar-vintage Mondeo grafted on. I’d honestly never seen one of those before.

As a reference to our American readers, here’s the mk2 pre-facelift Ford Focus (2004-2008)

I get surprised every time people mention that the North American version came with a CVH at all, but in ‘04?!
